I’ve never been to a house that was totally devoid of human interaction. I guess these days, that would mean a very, very, very small room that is well-lit, with a window in the back, and the most important thing that it has to offer to humans is a door to let them in and out of.
As you can imagine, a house without a door is very, very, very lonely. I guess that’s what you get when you buy a house with a dead tree inside the yard.
When you’re on Deathloop, you can’t step outside. You can only move about in the house, and that means going into the living room to get the door. So if you’re on a Deathloop island, you’re basically trapped inside the house. You can’t get out, you can’t get in, and you can’t do anything about it.
What makes it worse is that the living room is not only the only room you can move in and out of, but also the only room in the house that is accessible. You have to get the door open or else you’ll die. But because Deathloop is a time loop, when you die you’re not actually dead, you’re just “dead” in the wrong place.
The living room in Deathloop is a lot like a real living room in your house. Think of it like a room in your home that you use for writing and cooking. The only way to get in there is to open a door. So you have to take away the door and get the door open again. Thats the whole concept of the game.
This concept is so cool. I love how they didn’t include the door in their first two games, because that would have meant that the living room was an actual living room. This is one of those games that just has me drooling all over the place.
Of all the “toys” that you can put in your living room, this is probably the one you are most likely to want to put in there.
