My most recent blog post was about the best places to have a beer in Chicago. I recently attended the annual ‘Bob’s Barbecue Festival in the Oak Park neighborhood. This is such a well-known Chicago neighborhood, so you could imagine my excitement. I attended the festival from 6:30am until 7:30am, and I left feeling like I knew more about Chicago than I had before.
I don’t know that I agree with the gist of everything that the festival is saying about Chicago, but I do think it’s awesome that Bob Loblaw’s team is hosting this event. The festival is a celebration of the best barbecue in Chicago. I guess you could say that this is a Chicago-centric event, but that’s only partly true. I found it to be a great opportunity to sample a wide variety of barbecue.
I didn’t have to leave the city to get a taste of the Festival but I did make a quick detour when I got to the festival from 3pm. I started with a couple of burgers and a couple of beers (and a side of fries and some other stuff) at the Chicago Dog. It was nice to be able to walk by some of the vendors that had booths, and it was even nicer to see people I knew there.
I was particularly excited to see the Dog, because Chicago’s got some tasty barbecue. I can’t remember the last time I had a burger there, but I’ve eaten a lot of it probably. I’m not sure if it’s because of the BBQ or the Dog, but Chicago’s got some amazing barbecue, and it’s always a good time here.
The Chicago Dog is a chain of brick-and-mortar restaurants that have been around since the 1920s. They’re known for their ribs, burgers, and great atmosphere. They offer free Wi-Fi and a great selection of beer. The food isn’t too bad either, and the burgers are nice and salty.
Their website is still a work in progress. This is a nice opportunity to check it out.
The dog is a great place to enjoy a beer and some ribs, but the BBQ is far from the best. The food isnt really worth mentioning, with the exception of the BBQ. They also seem to have a couple of bad recipes, but the food is still pretty good. The food at Chicagos isnt all that high end. They also offer a couple of other barbecue joints in the area.
