Twitter is a great way to keep up with friends and family (and the occasional random stranger), but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I miss the Twitter feel of real life.
Of course, Twitter is also a great way to stay connected with the internet community, but it’s not the same. It’s different places. I was once a die-hard Twitter fan, but that’s gone. I’ve grown up.
Twitter is a social network for the internet. Twitter is like a personal website that you can post on, but there is no community. Twitter is like a diary, or a journal, or a letter. It’s a space to vent, to share, to keep important people in the loop, to send pictures, to write things you would write in real life, etc. It’s a safe space to be yourself. That’s what Im talking about.
Ive grown up. Ive grown up in a different way from my peers and friends. Ive become a public person, an online persona, an online personality. Ive developed a whole different set of skills and experiences that are new and not just a rehash of those I have been using. Im a writer. I was a writer. Im a writer and a blogger.
